Corona Virus Club details

Note

The advice to our Clubs is we train and play miniroos, junior and senior football this week (w/c 16 March 2020)

There is the general caveat that things and directions will change as this matter plays out.

So advice today may change tomorrow.

Chief Medical Officers are predicting that this coronavirus matter will peak in Australia in late April /early May and maybe later so much more to play out.

Our approach

  1. We follow government advice and align with Chief Medical Officers in all we do
  2. We are all involved in risk mitigation…..we are the answer
  3. We strive to play football whenever we can and always with a focus on player/participant welfare
  4. We will control the situations when we play/train

The issues on the ground

Senior football

FFA Cup (Darwin and Alice Springs)

Essential we play whenever we can. Tight window for playing this comp and broadcast commitments must be considered. Delays/postponements are problematic and will cause many more issues around scheduling, pitch over loading, player breaks between matches etc.

Will go ahead as scheduled at this stage. Limit of 500 to attend each match. Risk mitigations procedures must be in place.

Darwin and Alice Springs Senior Football

Will go ahead as scheduled. Limit of 500 to attend/participate in each match. As 90% of senior football is played at Ross Park and Darwin Football Stadium we can control numbers and behaviour.

See the general notices on this matter for additional advice on playing and training football.

Darwin and Alice Springs Junior and miniroos football

Will go ahead as scheduled but with some key directives in place. All procedures and suggestions apply to Alice Springs football when it commences in a few weeks.

  1. only one parent or guardian to attend miniroos and junior matches from this weekend. Do not bring the players siblings.
  2. only one parent or guardian to attend miniroos and junior training this week. Preferably drop your child off and return to collect them at agreed time.
  3. Strictly limit attendance by the elderly. Grandparents should not attend football training or matches.
  4. All coaches/players/officials/spectators are to practise “social distancing” keeping 1.5 m away from players/managers/other coaches/referees
  5. Players are not to shake hands, hug or celebrate in huddles
  6. If any participant is unwell (colds/coughs/fevers/runny nose) they are to NOT attend training or matches. If they do they are to be sent home.
  7. If any participant has recently returned from overseas travel then they should not play or train for 14 days from date of return.
  8. Coaches of teams to keep teams away from other teams during training. Do not play intraclub matches for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Core hygiene items

Clubs should try to supply antiseptic wipes and hand gel/sanitiser and tissues where possible.

Check toilet tissue stock and supply for your venue.

Mandatory gloves on canteen staff serving and preparing food. Change the gloves often.

All cash to be ONLY handled by Club volunteers wearing gloves.

No staff/volunteers to be in the canteen area unless required.

National Sporting Organisations

FFA and other high participation sports as well as NRL and AFL are meeting with the Commonwealth Government this afternoon in a round table discussion. I note Rugby Australia has cancelled their youth and I assume their community football until May. SA Football has postponed their football for 2 weeks.

There will be an announcement for our sport out of that meeting. We will share that announcement when available.

Wellness

All staff/volunteers are to inform a Club committee member immediately if they feel unwell (cold/cough/flu/fever/runny nose etc)and to stay at home until further notice.

All coughs/sneezes must be into a tissue or towel and the tissue or paper towel disposed of appropriately.

All NTC coaches are to inform Paula/John/Allison immediately if they also feel unwell. Do not come to training or matches if you have any of the above symptoms

Reminder

All staff, volunteers and coaches are to wash hands often and thoroughly with soap and water (minimum 20 seconds please)

All staff and coaches are to practise what is being termed “social distancing” where you try and keep a 1.5m distance between yourself and others.
